We took part in the Science Picnic for the third time. This year the theme was “Motion”. On this occasion, we decided to do three experiments, which were very popular.
Both this year and last year the weather was good, thanks to which there were plenty of visitors, which resulted in a huge number of visitors wishing to taste different forms of motion.
The three experiments already mentioned were named:
- Emotions in motion.
- Thought in constant motion.
- Putting the ball in motion by concentration and the rhythm of the heart (biofeedback).
The aim of the first experiment was to indicate the impact of emotions in the process of human behavior and to show the biological and psychological mechanisms that are in constant motion and interaction with the external environment.
- The experiment participant put his hand in a special box so that he could not see what was in it.
- The experimenter individually gave various items to the participant, evoking different emotions and asking specific questions.
- After the experiment, all processes that have occurred have been discussed and explained by the person conducting the experiment.
The purpose of the second experiment was to show how the process of registering information from the environment and extracting it from storage magazines works. It consisted in presenting the continuity of traffic in recording information.
- The participant was putting on headphones.
- Each participant’s ear reached a different information material.
- After the listening session, the participant passed a short test checking how much information he managed to remember.
- When the experiment ended, the lecturer explained all the mechanisms and processes that took place during the show.
The third experiment was biofeedback.
- The participant put a special device on the head, which read the rhythm of the heart.
- His task was to put the stationary blower in motion and run the ball through the obstacle course.
- After completing the course, the trainer explained how biofeedback works and what this method can be used for.
We are very happy that we had the opportunity to participate in this inspiring event. We hope to see you next year.
